Indian woman stabbed in Canada, robbed near home in late-night horror
A 17-year-old girl has since been arrested in connection with the crime.

A 23-year-old Indian woman was brutally attacked and robbed near her home in Winnipeg, the capital of the Canadian province of Manitoba, police said. A teenager has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The woman, identified by community members as Tanpreet Kaur, was walking back to her apartment after finishing her evening shift late on June 23 when she was ambushed by two strangers shortly after midnight on the 1–99 block of Roslyn Road.
According to a statement released by the Winnipeg Police Service on Wednesday, bystanders intervened to stop the assault. The attackers fled the scene after stabbing the woman and stealing her belongings.
“The victim was stabbed and robbed of her cell phone. During the assault, she was able to disarm the suspect and held onto the knife, while they continued to assault her. Bystanders intervened and called 911, and the suspects ran off,” the police said.
Kaur was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
A 17-year-old girl has since been arrested in connection with the crime. She faces charges of aggravated assault, robbery, and multiple breaches of a release order, according to authorities. She has been detained in custody.
Police have not yet confirmed whether they are searching for additional suspects.
