Wilson also clarified her identity, stating, "I'm legally recognised as a woman in the state of California," and dismissed Musk's comments as "desperate attempts for attention". (X)Elon Musk’s estranged transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, has publicly disowned the tech billionaire, following his controversial comments about her transition. Musk recently claimed in an interview that Wilson was “killed” by a “woke mind virus” and that he was tricked into signing documents for her gender-affirming care during the pandemic.
He also referred to gender-reassignment surgery as “child mutilation and sterilisation,” which sparked significant backlash.
In response, Wilson took to Threads, a platform owned by Meta, to assert, “I disowned him, not the other way around.” She vehemently denied Musk’s claims, stating that they were entirely fabricated. Wilson criticised Musk’s portrayal of her childhood, particularly his assertion that she exhibited stereotypically feminine behaviours at a young age, calling it “entirely fake.” She emphasised that Musk was largely absent during her upbringing and described her experiences of harassment related to her femininity and queerness.

Wilson also clarified her identity, stating, “I’m legally recognised as a woman in the state of California,” and dismissed Musk’s comments as “desperate attempts for attention”. She added that Musk’s rhetoric reflects a misunderstanding of queer identities and experiences.
Earlier this month, Musk had discussed his feelings about Wilson’s transition in an interview with conservative commentator Jordan Peterson, expressing regret over what he described as a loss of his son, Xavier, due to the transition. He claimed that the term “deadnaming” signifies that “your son is dead,” a statement that further fueled the controversy.
The public dispute has drawn support for Wilson from various quarters, including her mother, Justine Wilson, and her former partner, Grimes, who expressed pride in Vivian’s identity. Wilson legally changed her name and gender at 18, stating her desire to distance herself from her biological father, Elon Musk. Her mother, Justine Wilson, had divorced Musk in 2008.
