Knife attack kills 8, injures 17 in China’s Wuxi, suspect detained

Police said Wu had failed his examinations and could not graduate, and that he was dissatisfied about his pay at an internship. He decided to vent his frustrations via the attack, the statement said.

Videos on social media showed injured people lying on streets after the attack. On Chinese social media platforms like Weibo, keyword searches of the attack turn up the police statement but no videos or images related to the attack.

China has been witnessing a rise in attacks at public in a random manner. In October, a man was detained by the authorities after he attacked children’s in a school in Beijing with knife. At least five people were wounded in the incident.

A knife attack killed three people and injured 15 others in a Shanghai supermarket in September. The same month, a Japanese schoolboy died after being stabbed on his way to school in the southern city of Shenzhen.
