US President Biden orders American military to shoot down Iranian missiles targeting Israel

President Biden ordered the US military to aid the Israel's IDF in neutralizing the missiles and other air borne attacks being carried out by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Amid the escalating tensions in the Middle East, the US President Joe Biden has ordered the American military to shoot down missiles being fired by Iran towards Israel as Tehran attacked Tel Aviv with a barrage of ballistic missiles on Tuesday.

President Biden ordered the US military to aid the Israel’s Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in neutralizing the missiles and other air borne attacks being carried out by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC), the White House National Security Council said on Tuesday.

US National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett posted an update on X about the development from the White House and said, “President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are monitoring the Iranian attack against Israel from the White House Situation Room & receiving regular updates from their national security team. President Biden directed the US military to aid Israel’s defense against Iranian attacks & shoot down missiles targeting Israel.”

Iran fired a salvo of ballistic missiles at Israel on Tuesday amid escalating tensions between Hezbollah and Israeli forces. The attack marks a significant rise in the regions conflict which has been volatile since Gaza based Hamas militant group attacked Israel in October 2023.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian took to his official X account to give a stren warning to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that Tehran is not belligerent. Pezeshkian said, “Let Netanyahu know that Iran is not a belligerent, but it stands firmly against any threat. This is only a corner of our power. Do not enter into a conflict with Iran.”

Israel’s IDF posted a raw footage of Iran’s missile attack in Jerusalem and said, “Watch as Iranian missiles rain over the Old City in Jerusalem, a holy site for Muslims, Christians and Jews. This is the target of the Iranian regime: everyone.”

The Israeli military stated that they weren’t aware of any casualty or injury being reported in the missile attack by Iran as Tel Aviv’s anti-missile defense system, Iron Dome, successfully intercepted the incoming threats. Israel’s military had earlier confirmed that Iran fired over 150 ballistic missiles on Israel.

Earlier, the Israeli forces launched a ground excursion into the Lebanon to neutralize the Hezbollah militant group and its infrastructure. In the Israeli airstrikes last week, Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed alongside other commanders of the militant group.
