Nepal to ease traffic on Mount Everest

Sapkota says separate ropes will be fixed for climbers ascending and descending near the summit this year to help the flow of climbers, and government officials posted at the base camp would strictly monitor climbers throughout the spring climbing season, which runs from March to May.

The move follows years of criticism that Nepal has done little to manage the growing number of Everest climbers despite making millions of dollars in fees.
