On the third day of Democratic National Convention, Governor Tim Walz accepted the nomination for the Vice Presidential bid in the upcoming US elections and while Tim was on stage, his son Gus Walz stood up from his chair and cheered, “That’s my dad!”

The 17-year-old son of Governor Tim is neurodivergent and is suffering from Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

When Tim Walz received the nomination, his family joined him on stage and he said, “Hope, Gus and Gwen, you are my entire world, and I love you.”

The sudden expression of Tim’s son Gus Walz took the crowd by surprise who cheered and lauded him. The internet started sharing the clip and soon Gus Walz became the top trending topic on Google Trends in the US.

The speech of Tim Walz focused upon issues concerning the United States like gun control, abortion rights, being a good neighbour among others but the father-son duet which witnessed tears and emotions was supposedly the first time US political arena witnessed.

US’ Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar posted on X, “You know you’ve done well as a parent when your kids are as proud of you as Gus and Hope are of Tim Walz. “That’s my dad.” No three words better describe our next Vice President.”

In a statement quoted in the People Magazine, Tim and his wife Gwen Walz have largely described their son Gus Walz’s condition as “his secret power”, indicating that they have always ensured that Gus is ready to taste the success.

“It took us time to figure out how to make sure we did everything we could to make sure Gus would be set up for success as he was growing up,” the parents added.
