Chaiti Chhath 2025: is a significant festival in India that is observed twice a year during the Hindu months of Kartik and Chaitra, dedicated to Surya God and Chhathi Maiyya. Yamuna Chhath, or Chaiti Chhath, falls in the month of Chaitra and honours the birth of Goddess Yamuna, one of Lord Krishna’s eight consorts.

It is widely celebrated in the Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand and some parts of Madhya Pradesh, while it is grandly celebrated as Yamuna Chhath or Yamuna Jayanti in the Braj region of the country, which includes Mathura and Vrindavan.

According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Yamuna is regarded as the wife of Lord Shri Krishna and is said to have visited Earth on the Shashti tithi of Shukla Paksha during the month of Chaitra.

Similar to Chhath Puja, Chhath Arghya is a significant ritual during which devotees offer prayers to both the setting and rising sun while standing in water, expressing their gratitude for health, prosperity, and well-being. This ritual symbolises deep devotion, purity, and a profound connection with nature.
