Ahoi Ashtami, also known as Ahoi Aathe, is a fasting day celebrated on Ashtami Tithi, the eighth day of the month, which is approximately eight days before Diwali and four days after Karwa Chauth.

This year, in 2024, it will be observed on October 24, falling on Thursday, with Ahoi Ashtami puja muhurat starting at 06:09 PM and ending at 07:28 PM, as per Drik Panchang.

Sanjh (evening) time for sighting stars is 06:37 PM, and the moonrise timings on Ahoi Ashtami are 11:25 PM.

Ahoi Ashtami 2024: Origin and Significance

A woman accidentally killed a sleeping lion club during Kartik while digging some soil in a nearby forest.

This led to the deaths of her seven sons, one by one and by the year-end.

Later, the villagers advised her to pray to Ahoy Ashtami Bhagwati by drawing the face of a lion cub and offering prayers.

She continued this for seven years, and by the grace of the goddess, her sons returned to life.
