Ultra-marathon swimmer Sucheta Deb Burman has impressed netizens with her exceptional swimming skills as she swam from Bandra-Worli Sea Link to Gateway of India in Mumbai.
She shared a clip of her 36-kilometre swim on Instagram on August 4. So far it has gathered over 3.6 lakh likes. While many people praised Burman for her achievement, others pointed to the dangers of swimming in highly polluted waters of the Arabian sea.
Commenting on Burman’s post, an Instagram user referred to the swim as “36 km for pure Sewage discharge”. A person expressed concern and wrote, “Hats off! But I think the water is too dirty it might cause u danger”.
Another person wrote, “Even Im a swimmer and I know how much it takes to swim 36km. The longest i have swim is 7.5km to complete that It took me complete 3 months of preparation giving 6hrs daily and i was swimming daily 1km for past 7 yrs.
