During the holidays, many people share the dire situation of trains being overcrowded with unreserved passengers. Because of the overcrowding, some people are not even able to board their train.
Abhas Kumar Shrivastava (@abhas_rewcie) from Bihar took to X, formerly Twitter, to share something similar as he said he had to remain standing during the entire journey even though he had a confirmed ticket.
Shrivastava said it was an intercity train in Odisha. He had reserved a seat four days ago and got a confirmed ticket. However, upon entering the train he realised he couldn’t even reach his seat. After an hour, when he managed to reach his seat, he found a pregnant woman occupying his seat so he just left and stood at the gate for two hours, he wrote.
“Thank you for so memorable journey and a confirmed ticket to let me stand for the entire trip,” he wrote in another post. In another post, he mentioned that it was not a general coach but a sleeper coach in 22840/Intercity Express.
“Now this is happening everywhere, it needs to be fixed as soon as possible or declare the entire train as a general train,” a user commented. “But they’ll keep launching new vande bharat trains and cancel regular ones or delay them,” said another. “Not a new thing though. These trains have remained the same. People go and sit even in reserved bogies and that should certainly change,” wrote a third.
“Buddy this 2S reservation is a sham unless you’re traveling in the off season and that too to only a few states in India. In holiday seasons even SL becomes more like General bogie,” another netizen posted.
