For cricket fans in India, it is a dream to meet Sachin Tendulkar who is known as the ‘God of Cricket’. Saiyami Kher, the protagonist of the sports film Ghoomer, which was released recently, fulfilled her childhood dream as she met Tendulkar and even showed him her bowling action that she learnt for the film. Ghoomer tells the tale of a young cricketer who loses her right arm in an accident. An alcoholic coach takes it upon himself to train her to bowl with her left hand. The film celebrates her triumph over adversity. In a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, Kher is seen interacting with the cricket legend. Tendulkar tells her, “I have seen your action in the movie. I hope to see it in real life.” Kher then says to Tendulkar that she has done this but standing in front of him, she was feeling nervous. Tendulkar then hands her a ball and tells her that he has planned everything. Kher then rotates and bowls a delivery just like she did in the film. Tendulkar was impressed and said, “I have never played anyone with this action.” Praising her dedication, Tendulkar said she kept her right hand either behind her back or front for one year to prepare for the role. “What’s the one dream you had as a child that you never thought could never come true? Mine was that someday, I would get to meet @sachin_rt my hero, my inspiration, my teacher. I have loved and learnt this game watching him play,” Kher captioned the video. I’ve had the loudest “Sachinnn Sachhhin” chant in the North Stand. So, I can’t seem to explain what this means to me,” she wrote in another tweet. I’ve bunked college to watch him play. He gave me joy, he taught me how to fight, he taught me passion, how to never give up, how to work hard, and how to stay grounded. Unknowingly, he taught me how to live. — Saiyami Kher (@SaiyamiKher) August 22, 2023 When I began acting, my friends ragged me and said, “Ja ja, acting kar. Someday Sachin will watch your film.” And that became my goal. To work hard and hope that someday the Master will watch my work. — Saiyami Kher (@SaiyamiKher) August 22, 2023 And then, it happened, the God of Cricket saw a film in which I play a cricketer. The God of Cricket asked me to show him how I bowled the Ghoomer. Dreams really do come true. This. This part of my life is called happiness.#GhoomerInCinemasNow — Saiyami Kher (@SaiyamiKher) August 22, 2023 Ghoomer, which also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Angad Bedi, received a positive response from the audience but is facing a tough time at the box office due to Gadar 2 and OMG 2.
