Amit Sehra, a vegetable vendor from Rajasthan’s Kotputli town, saw his fortunes change dramatically after winning the top prize of Rs 11 crore in the Punjab State Lottery’s Diwali Bumper 2025 draw.

The 32-year-old, who runs a small cart selling vegetables, bought two tickets for Rs 1,000 – money he had borrowed from a friend – while visiting Moga in Punjab. One ticket was for his wife, which fetched only Rs 1,000, but the other turned out to be worth crores of rupees. The lucky ticket, purchased in Bathinda for just Rs 500, made him an instant millionaire.

According to News18, Sehra travelled to Bathinda with his family to complete the formalities. Overwhelmed with emotion, he told ANI, “I can’t express my happiness. I thank the Punjab government and the lottery agency. All my grief has vanished today,” adding that he is a “devotee of Lord Hanuman”.

Others expressed concern for his safety and privacy. Someone wrote, “Innocent lag rhe he. . Why to make them famous . .it’s a bad world out there.” Another commented, “He should’ve kept his name secret. Why you want to show the world that you’ve won 11 crore and attract unnecessary attention towards you and pin target on your back? Now all the relatives, friends and family members will try to squeeze you out.”
