On May 15, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited a barber shop in Rae Bareli to get his hair and beard trimmed. In the now-viral video posted by Congress on X, Gandhi was seen enquiring about the fiery haircut trend that took over the Internet recently. In the video, the Congress leader arrives at the ‘New Mombadevi Hair Cutting Salon’ situated at Brijendra Nagar in the Lalganj area of Rae Bareli. Gandhi asks the barber to trim his beard. As the barber arranges the chair for the politician, he initiates a conversation on haircuts. “Yeh saari styles katatte ho aap? (You cut all these hairstyles?),” asks Rahul Gandhi. Gandhi asks the barber if customers demand such haircuts. As the barber starts trimming his beard, Gandhi asks him about his family and other sources of income. During the conversation, he enquires the barber about the fiery haircut trend. “Aapne wo video dekha hai jisme wo aag laga deta hai baal pe. Woh kya ho raha hai? (Have you seen the video where the barber fired the hair? What is that?)," he says. The barber says, “Arre drama karte hai sir ji. Abhi ek do client aate hai bolte hain karo lekin humko kuch pata hi nahi (It’s all drama. A few clients demanded me to do it but I don’t know how to).” Rahul Gandhi asks the barber if he knows about Congress’ Mahalaxmi Yojana that will provide Rs 1 lakh every year to women. As the conversation continues, the Congress leader asks the barber about what needs to be done to develop Rae Bareli, to which the latter says 'employment'. The barber then mentions PM Modi’s Agniveer recruitment scheme and says it should be discontinued. “Agniveer ko toh band kar rhe hain hum. Hamari sarkar aayegi toh usko khatam kar denge (We will end Agniveer scheme once we come to power),” Rahul Gandhi says. Sharing the video on X, the official handle of Congress wrote, “There are immense opportunities for millions of talented youth in the country's villages, towns and cities like Raebareli. There is a need to support them.
