‘Honey-trapped’ Alwar man held for spying for Pakistan’s ISI

Rajasthan intelligence officials said they have arrested Alwar resident Mangat Singh for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Singh has been arrested under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
For the past two years, Mangat Singh had been in contact with handlers of the Pakistani intelligence agency through social media, officials said. Before and after Operation Sindoor, Mangat Singh had allegedly been honey trapped by a female Pakistani handler who had been using the pseudonym Isha Sharma. The woman also lured him with money, and through social media, Singh had allegedly been sharing crucial information about the crucial cantonment area of Alwar city and other strategic locations in the country.

Following confirmation of these facts and after interrogation by various intelligence agencies at central enquiry centre, Jaipur, and technical examination of his mobile, a case was registered against Mangat Singh under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, at Special Police Station, Rajasthan, Jaipur on October 10 and he was arrested by CID Intelligence Rajasthan.
Officials said that following Operation Sindoor, Intelligence personnel have been closely monitoring strategically important areas of the state and Alwar is a highly strategic and sensitive area of the National Capital Region. During surveillance of the cantonment area in Alwar, the activities of Mangat Singh, a resident of Govindgarh, Alwar, were found to be suspicious.
Following the hostilities across the international border after the Pahalgam terror attack, the security forces and agencies have been keeping a close watch in the border districts and beyond. In Jaisalmer itself, at least four persons have been arrested for alleged espionage activities this year.
