Watch: Meghalaya CM stuns audience by performing Aamir Khan’s ‘Pehla Nasha’ on 150-year-old piano

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is known for his musical prowess. After winning hearts with his guitar performance in 2023, a video of Sangma playing a soulful rendition of Bollywood’s iconic song, “Pehla Nasha”, has taken the Internet by storm. The song from “Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar” features Aamir Khan and Ayesha Jhulka, and has been crooned by Udit Narayan and Sadhana Sargam.

Sangma was playing a 150-year-old piano in the historic Raj Bhavan in the presence of Governor C H Vijayashankar.

The video has been widely circulated across all social media platforms. Hailing Sangma, a user wrote, “Our sir never fails to surprise us with his God gifted instrumental talents.” Another user commented, “The only best CM ever from Meghalaya I have seen. He’s an all rounder.”

“North eastern politicians are very good people . They are not like other politicians . They love nature, music , animals. They are great achievers and yet follow their passion,” a third user reacted.

Sangma, the son of former Lok Sabha Speaker and Meghalaya CM P A Sangma, had a passion for music long before he assumed office in 2018. However, it was in 2021 that the public got a real glimpse of his talent when he performed Bryan Adams’ “Summer of ‘69” at an event.

He frequently shares clips of himself singing or playing instruments, often the guitar, on his social media handles. One such video shows him playing Joe Satriani’s instrumental classic “Always With Me, Always With You”.

In 2023, another viral clip saw the CM ripping through the legendary guitar solo from Iron Maiden’s “Wasted Years”, a performance that earned him even more plaudits for his skills. This came after his viral 2021 performance of the Bryan Adams hit.
