Travelling on a train in India can be quite an experience if one gets a reservation in a general coach as it is jampacked with passengers, especially during peak summer holidays. A video posted on Twitter shows how a man had to manoeuvre through the berths to reach a washroom as the train was crowded with passengers.
Abhijeet Dipke posted the video on Twitter on June 18 and it has been viewed more than 1.4 million views. He told The Indian Express that the video was shot onboard the Devagiri Express by his cousin who was travelling from Aurangabad to Mumbai on May 6. The clip was of his cousin’s friend and was shot at 2 am in the night. As the aisle was filled with passengers sitting on the floor, the man is seen climbing from one berth to another to reach the toilet.
“Got this video from my cousin who was travelling in Railway. Here is his friend trying to make his way to the toilet. @RailMinIndia, thank you for transforming train journey into an adventure sport,” Dipke wrote as caption.

“This guy is seeing a General Coach car in a train for the first time, and it is quite impressive. You should see these coaches during festival times. General Coaches are usually filled like this because there is no reserved system in place. Even I have traveled in the worst conditions. It has been the same since the beginning. Please don’t try to fool people and make it seem like this is a recent development. Were you born with a silver spoon? It appears you are unaware of how general coaches function in the Indian railways,” another person posted.
