When people cancel their flight tickets, they are often frustrated by the huge cost of cancellation and negligible refunds. Rahul Kumar, an IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, suffered a similar fate when he cancelled his flight ticket.
Sharing a screenshot of the refund that he received after cancelling the flight ticket, Kumar, with a touch of sarcasm wrote, “Pls suggest some good investment plans for my refund.”
The IAS officer received a paltry sum of Rs 20 on the flight ticket which he had booked for Rs 13,820. The screenshot that he shared showed that he paid the amount after getting a discount of Rs 1,138. The airline cancellation fee stood at Rs 11,800, GI cancellation fee at 1,200 and convenience fee at Rs 800. As the cancellation fee was Rs 13,800, he got back just Rs 20.

Shared Tuesday, the tweet has received more than 1,100 likes so far and amused netizens.
“With this kind of liquidity you will need extra security sir,” IFS officer Parveen Kaswan wrote. “Donate it to a charity and claim tax returns!” suggested a user. “I don’t process the refund in these cases. Let the seat get wasted .. rather than the airline selling it again to some other passenger,” another person wrote. “I m not very good at economics but can suggest for remaining huge amount which you can donate to some needy person, his/her blessings will certainly outperform any investment,” another user expressed.
