As temperatures continue to soar in several parts of India, a bizarre theft incident came to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow. The thief, in an inebriated state, entered a house to rob, however, dozed off in an air conditioner room.

According to reports, the incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday in the Indiranagar area of Lucknow. Finding the house empty, the thief broke in stole the valuables and turned on the AC to take a break. However, he dozed off. Seeing the front gate open, the neighbours rang the owner of the house, who was in Varanasi.

The police arrived at the house and found the thief asleep in the AC room. In the viral photo, the thief can be seen asleep and holding a mobile phone in his right hand. The police have arrested the thief and charged him under IPC section 379 A.

The police said the thief tried to steal a washbasin, water pump, gas cylinder and cash from the cupboards.

In another bizarre theft, a 164-feel-tall mobile tower was stolen in Uttar Pradesh’s Ujjaini village. The incident took place in 2023. According to reports, the tower weighed over 10 tonnes and was worth Rs 8.5 lakh. In January this year, an entire pond was stolen in Bihar’s Darbhanga district. As per reports, the pond was publicly owned and even maintained for fishing and other activities.

Earlier, a 60-foot bridge was stolen in the state’s Rohtas district. The thieves used JCBs and gas cutters to dismantle it and the bridge disappeared in just three days.
