The Versova police in Mumbai registered a case of rash and negligent driving against an unidentified driver of an SUV after it lost control and crashed into a divider, damaging the statue of the late composer Aadesh Shrivastava in Lokhandwala, Andheri (West), Sunday morning.
The accident occurred around 8.42 am, and the police said CCTV footage showed Aadesh Shrivastav’s younger son Anivesh standing near the Range Rover car with another person after the crash.
The car, according to the police, is registered in the name of a Delhi-based car dealer who sold it to one Asif, an auto agent. “We have contacted Asif, and once he comes, then it will be clear who is the owner of the car,” said a police officer part of the probe.
A vegetable vendor, who witnessed the accident, said two people were in the car at the time. Both got out of the vehicle after the accident, said the police officer. Local residents noticed the accident and informed the police.
“It is not clear who was driving the car at the time of the accident. But we have registered a case against an unknown person for rash and negligent driving,” said Deepsikha Vare, Senior Inspector of the Versova police station.
“No one was injured, and during the investigation, we will verify who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident,” added the officer.
Aadesh Shrivastava was a composer who began his career in the 1980s and composed music for many films, including Kanyadaan, Major Saab, Chalte Chalte, Baghban, Apaharan, and Rajneeti.
