
Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and philanthropist-author Sudha Murty have gone viral for sharing a joyful moment on the dance floor in Bengaluru. The two were seen dancing together at the baraat of Shaw’s nephew, Eric Mazumdar, son of Ravi Mazumdar.
In a video shared by entrepreneur and politician Anil Shetty, the duo is seen dancing to dhol beats alongside other guests. “Dancing with Sudha Murthy and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw at a wedding. Ignore my dance steps as I was so happy to see two seventy-plus years young with so much energy,” Shetty captioned the clip.

The video quickly drew praise online, with users applauding the two icons for their infectious energy. “Great to see two powerful women entrepreneurs dancing like kids,” one user commented. Another added, “Those two women are truly inspiring for both men and women.”
The wedding reception was held at Taj West End, Bengaluru, and was attended by several dignitaries, including Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who shared photos from the event on X.
“Attended the wedding reception of Ashley Pournamdari and Eric Mazumdar in Bengaluru. Wishing the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness, love, and togetherness,” Shivakumar wrote.
Eric Mazumdar, son of Ravi Mazumdar and nephew of Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, is an Assistant Professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences and Economics at Caltech (California Institute of Technology). He recently married Ashley Pournamdari.
According to the Caltech website, he holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
