England begin their World Cup campaign against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on October 5. England’s star wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow was not too happy with the team’s travel arrangements for the ICC World Cup as they reached Guwahati after travelling for more than 38 hours. The 34-year-old took to Instagram to express his frustration as he shared a photo of England team players flying in the economy class of an IndiGo flight.
Bairstow described the scene as “utter chaos” as he is seen sitting along with his teammates while various passengers are standing in the aisle. He further wrote “Last leg incoming…been some trip” along with a laughing emoji.
The England team arrived in Guwahati in the late hours of Thursday ahead of its first warm-up match against India on Saturday. They are scheduled to play another warm-up match against Bangladesh on October 2 before kicking off their World Cup campaign against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on October 5.
That match would be a repeat of the final of the 2019 World Cup that England won in the super over after both teams finished on 241 runs. While the super over also ended in a tie, England were deemed winners due to hitting more boundaries.
