For one Indian entrepreneur, the lure of a well-paid tech career in Germany simply wasn’t enough. Instead, he walked away from the stability of a lucrative job to follow a dream powered by passion and dosa batter. The story of Dosamaa’s co-founder, Mohan, has struck a chord online, with many admiring his bold leap of faith.

Mohan, who opened a dosa restaurant in Germany, Paris, and London, has recently opened another one in Pune.

In a candid Instagram post, Mohan wrote, “We share our story of leaving a high-paying tech job in Germany to start a dosa restaurant, facing challenges, and expanding from Paris to London and now Pune, with a mission to bring healthy, gluten-free dosas to people worldwide.”

He started Dosamaa in 2023 and, as his LinkedIn profile notes, now serves as the Managing Director.

A video on the brand’s page shows Mohan expertly making dosa as he says, “I quit my high-paying job in Germany to do this.” He shares that he studied in Paris on a scholarship, secured well-paying roles afterward, and yet felt compelled to build something of his own with close friends.

While the decision may sound glamorous from the outside, Mohan doesn’t sugarcoat the reality. The shift, he says, was incredibly tough, filled with long nights, exhaustion, and constant operational challenges. But perseverance paid off. Dosamaa now operates across multiple cities globally, with Pune being the latest addition.

Dosamaa’s new outlet on Pune’s FC Road also released a video celebrating its opening.
