ome of us have been chased by a dog, a cow or bull at some point in our lives. But what if a much bigger animal was involved?
A video shared by a traveller “near Muthanga” in Kerala’s Wayanad on the way to popular hill station Ooty in neighbouring Tamil Nadu shows an angry elephant in action, chasing down two men who reportedly got off their vehicles to click a selfie in the border area.
The incident took place in Bandipur National Park, Karnataka. The caption of the video explains what happened, “The shocking scene that happened near Muthanga was captured by Sawad, a native of Kannothumala who is an IT engineer in Qatar. The incident happened on January 31 while on the way to Ooty with his family. Sawad released the video warning about the precautions to be taken while travelling through forest routes.”

The two men are seen running for their lives as the elephant approaches closer and closer. One of them even trips over and falls, and the jumbo appears to try and shove him with its trunk and even attempts to kick him, but fortunately it misses. Soon enough, the elephant turns around, much to the relief of the two men as their vehicles are also seen moving away from the terrifying scene.
Social media was flooded with a wave of concern, not only for the individuals but the wildlife as well.
One user wrote, “Running for your life is the real reason to be in shape.” Another warned, “Why go down, they are self-imposed, forest is for them, like this some people will go there and show, will not learn how much they get, idiots.”
“Thank God it was elephant,” a third user said, adding, “if it was tiger by looking oh his running style he would be gone.”
