The forest officer tweeted in roughly translated Hindi, “Even if everything else goes well, this weather has a deadly impact on farmers. All the earnings have been invested in the open fields. Today’s view from Ganganagar, Rajasthan.”
The clip was initially shared from Twitter handle Weather Sriganganagar Hanumangarh. Several other videos of hailstorm were shared from the handle. In one of the videos, a farmer is seen holding a handful of hail and showing his damaged crops.

India Meteorological Department’s on March 24 forecast rainfall and thunderstorm or hailstorm over plains of northwest India on Friday. It said in a statement that a western disturbance was seen as a cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan in lower and middle tropospheric levels and an induced cyclonic circulation lies over southwest Rajasthan neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels.
Farmers were advised to postpone harvesting of mature crops and store the already harvested produce in safe places or cover their produce in the fields with tarpaulin sheets, and drain out excess water from the fields.
