‘You’ll be deputy collector’s mother now’: Farmer’s daughter bags 12th rank in MP civil services exam; emotional call goes viral

A heartwarming video of a farmer’s daughter from Madhya Pradesh calling her mother after becoming a deputy collector has struck a chord with netizens. Mona Dangi, a resident of Ikodia village in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashok Nagar district, secured the 12th rank in the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) exam 2023.

Captioned, “Now you will be the Deputy Collector’s mother… Farmer’s daughter clears MPPSC PCS, calls her mother”, the viral clip shows an elated Dangi calling her mother shortly after the results of the MPPSC’s Provincial Civil Services (PCS) 2023 examination were announced. As tears ran down her face, Dangi told her mother, “Now you will be called the Deputy Collector’s mother.” Her mother asks her to check the results again, to which Dangi replies that there is no other Mona Dangi.

The video quickly gained traction, as numerous users extended congratulatory messages to Dangi, calling her a testament to perseverance and courage. “Grateful that this story is reaching even more people. Heartfelt respect for the amazing work you do,” a user wrote. “What a proud moment for her parents,” another user commented.

“I don’t know why there are tears in my eyes!” a third user reacted. “You deserved this, Congratulations,” a fourth user chimed in.

According to NDTV Madhya Pradesh, Dangi is currently posted as Inspector, Goods and Services Tax (GST), in Indore – a position she earned after clearing an exam in 2022. She began preparing for the exam during the COVID lockdown.

The report added that despite limited resources, Dangi’s father ensured that she was well-educated. She completed her schooling at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, before securing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
