In West Bengal, Durga Puja is a time for fervour, fun, and food as well as for lavishly decorated pandals based on unique themes.

As Durga Puja is being celebrated from October 20 to October 24 this year, netizens are sharing photos and videos of the pandals from their neighbourhoods.

Social media users have been posting about such interesting Durga Puja pandals on X.

On Sunday, an X user @safiranand_ shared a video of a pandal that was dedicated to puchkas or golgappas, one of the most popular street snacks in Kolkata.

While sharing a video of the pandal’s decorations, @safiranand_ wrote, “I am amazed at the depth of creativity in India. Here a whole pandal is made of puchkas with artists from Bengal. I wish to work in this area to highlight the rich creativity of India. Tala park. I love my India”.

Amongst the other most popular pandals this year is the Sreebhumi Sporting Club pandal based on the Disneyland theme. The Chorebagan Sarbojonin’s Durga Puja pandal is gaining much praise for employing optical illusion designs in its decorations.

An X user @horek_rokom shared a glimpse of this pandal and wrote, “Chorebagan Sarbojonin’s Durga Puja pandal this year is purely magical. A tremendous display of kinetics and dynamics creates a seamless collaboration of art and engineering, resulting in a visual illusion themed as ‘Onubhati’ by Debasish Borai, accompanied by a splendid idol”.

The Pathuriaghata Pancher Pally Sarbojonin Durgotsab Committee in Kolkata has chosen the theme of menstrual hygiene for its pandal.

Additionally, the Durga Puja Pandal in the Heritage Tram ‘Chaitali’ invited the members of the transgender community to decorate the Durga idol, in a bid to end the societal stigma against them.
