Drunk Army man drives car onto railway platform to help relatives board train in UP, watch video

A video of an Army personnel recklessly driving his car onto the platform at the Meerut Cantt railway station in Uttar Pradesh has caught the internet’s attention. The Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested Dhaka shortly after the incident.

The man has been identified as Sandeep Dhaka, who, according to officials, was under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred. Although the exact date of the incident remains uncertain, the viral video shows a car with a Jharkhand registration plate manoeuvring dangerously near a train at the platform. The police said a medical test confirmed that he was intoxicated at the time.

A Hindustan Times report quoted GRP inspector Vinod Kumar as saying that Dhaka was trying to help his relatives board a train as they had to reach Delhi due to a medical emergency in the family.

Reacting to the video, a user wrote, “He really tried Uber direct to train seat.” Another user commented, “Good job driver….Direct pickup from train.”

“Civic sense day by day of UPTIES,” a third user reacted.

Sharing details of the incident on X, the official handle of SP GRP Moradabad released a statement. “Due to the above acts by the accused youth army man Sandeep Dhaka, endangering the lives of passengers, a case was registered against the accused under Section 145(B)/147/154/159 of the Railway Act and Section 34 of the Police Act,” it read.

“The accused was arrested and a medical examination was conducted in which the accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused’s vehicle was seized. The accused’s driving license was seized, and a report of cancellation has been sent,” the statement added.
