Teachers are a child’s first role models and no matter how old we get, we always remember the names of our favourite schoolteachers. A man who is known on Instagram as @englishwalesirrr and teaches at a government school in Delhi showed what a day in the life of a teacher looks like.

He starts his day at school by marking attendance on a government portal. The video shows how he uses different images on a blackboard to make lessons interesting for his students. Then he is seen celebrating the birthday of a boy, who is seen wearing a birthday hat in the shape of a crown. After teaching the students, he is seen having lunch seated on a bench just like his pupils.

After lunch, he is seen overseeing their dance practice and then it is library time. The day ends with the students taking part in sports before the teacher bids goodbye to them.

“It’s not easy being a primary teacher… but it’s not difficult too. The key to do many things in classroom starts with one simple thing… ‘be in your classroom’. If you wish to strengthen your bond with kids.. start taking your lunch with them. I do it everyday and everyday I sit with a new kid… talk to him about so many things while taking our meals. There’s a constant stress that few of my kids aren’t learning much from the textbooks… focus on them.. everyday dedicate yourself to one of those kids.. and yes it’s not a one day or one week thing. It will take time. Trust the process. Be kind, keep yourself in their shoes,” he wrote in the video’s caption.

“Our Country needs more teachers like you,” an Instagram user commented. “I would love to go back to my primary school if I found teachers this way,” another user wrote. “I am a teacher myself and I find this so so warm and feels proud to be a teacher. But sadly not many have this mindset,” said a third.
