A video showing a kind stranger letting a child sleep on a bag resting on his lap during a metro ride has gone viral.

The video, shared on Instagram, shows a young child dozing off on a bag placed on the lap of an elderly man seated nearby. The mother, clearly worried about disturbing the man, tries to wake her child, but the man kindly gestures to let the child rest. He even gently pats the child, making sure he is comfortable.

Posted with the caption “Metro” and red heart emojis, the video has received over 84,300 likes and more than 1,000 comments.

The moment sparked a wave of emotional responses. While many praised the man’s kindness, others expressed confusion about the mother’s insistence on waking the child. One user commented, “How sweet, uncle ji,” admiring the man’s gentle nature. Another user wrote, “Uncle is sweet… but why is the mother not letting her sleep on her?”

Maybe the child has a habit of falling into a deep sleep, making it hard to wake him or carry him. Or maybe she’s trying to avoid ruining his night’s sleep. We don’t know—and we shouldn’t judge. In a follow-up video posted later by the same user, the child is seen waking up, drinking some water offered by the mother, and then falling back asleep, this time more comfortably.
