‘This is so disturbing’: Bihar cop drives into pregnant woman during challan dispute, investigation started

In a video displaying misconduct by a member of Bihar police, a cop in uniform dragged a pregnant woman during night patrolling. The incident unfolded at Marine Drive and has triggered widespread public outrage.

The now-viral video, shared by the Indian Youth Congress on X, shows the pregnant woman standing in front of the officer’s scooter, attempting to stop him from moving forward. She asks her companion to record the incident.

As the incident escalates, the officer repeatedly tries to drive the scooter ahead. The vehicle nudges the woman, dragging her slightly as she maintains her position to block the officer. Despite her pleas, he continues to move the scooter forward. Further, the woman climbs onto the back seat of the scooter, still engaged in a heated exchange with the officer. Moments later, a second policeman arrives and approaches the woman’s companion, attempting to calm the situation.

The video quickly gained traction, triggering demands for accountability across social media platforms.

Responding to the viral footage and the subsequent public outcry, the Patna Police released a statement on X. They confirmed they had “taken cognisance of the matter,” acknowledging the incident. The department stated that the video had been forwarded to the concerned officer for immediate investigation, assuring the public that “appropriate action would follow once the facts were established.”

The video circulated across all social media platforms, with a user commenting, “Showing his power on a woman. Must be frustrated in his life.. venting it on her instead of on those who are causing him this frustration. Hope he is dealt as per book and punished for his actions. Unfortunately such cases are on rise where copy are abusing their powers and hurting the common man.”

Another user wrote, “Where should we all go? We are not safe anywhere… This is so disturbing.” A third user reacted, saying, “Shame on him.”
