Weeks after the incident of the Ola driver slapping Delhi social activist Kiran Verma came to light, an incident took place in Bengaluru where an Ola auto driver allegedly harassed a customer over a ride price. In a post on Reddit, the customer claimed that an Ola auto driver demanded a price hike from HSR to Whitefield and further threatened the customer. “Had booked an Ola auto from HSR to Whitefield at a certain price however upon arrival, the driver refused to accept my ride at that amount. I cancelled and tried looking for other options. However, he kept standing next to me and was continuously trying to instigate me to fight him. I kept my cool and continued looking for other options. Finally, I was able to book a rapido bike. To my horror, he warned me that he would beat the rapido driver and me,” the customer claimed. The user added that the incident took place late at night. “Since it was late in the night plus the crowd was dispersing, I started walking towards my nearest road junction i.e. Bipin Rawat Chowk in HSR. He kept on following me all this time,” the post read. The autorickshaw driver allegedly removed the key from the Rapido driver’s bike, triggering an altercation. “This gunda called other gunda rickshaw walas and circled us. All this time, we were trying to get help from Blr Police Force but the amount of back and forth we had to do just to register our problem was tiring and scary,” the customer wrote. The customer further wrote, “We held our ground and the police arrived after 15 minutes. We were taken to the HSR police station where they made us sit for 3 hours just to get our complaint registered.” Take a look at the post here: The post resonated with several users, who shared similar incidents. A user wrote, “Bangalore has the nicest people I’ve met so far but these Auto guys are absolutely insane. I never take autos now after a similar incident. I pay a slightly premium price for the cab or use a rapido instead. Never regretted it.” Another user commented, “Around one weeks back, I also had traumatising experience with Bangalore auto driver (Namma Yatri). I somehow managed to run from the scene and saved myself. I am recently seeing this behaviour, that these auto waalas think they are doing a favour for non Kannada speaking people by accepting the ride.”
