Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, dedicated a post on X to Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination aspirants and applauded 2023 AIR 1 Aditya Srivastava.
Sharing a video about Aditya Srivastava’s journey thus far, Mahindra said that after watching the 2023 movie 12th Fail, he is ‘impressed’ by aspirants who clear the UPSC examination. 12th Fail, a critically acclaimed movie directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and starring Vikrant Massey in the lead, is based on Anurag Pathak’s book Twelfth Fail.
It is a biographical drama that shows how real-life IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma cleared the tough exam despite combating severe poverty.
“After seeing #12thFail I’m incredibly impressed by all who pass the UPSC examination. And someone who ranks 1st?? Well, I’m awestruck. Congratulations Aditya! May you—and many more like you—enable our country to take a giant leap forward,” Mahindra wrote on X.

A lot of people will be inspired by you and will not lose hope easily.” Another user wrote, “I can’t but imagine the contribution of many more of them around him that helped make it possible.”
“It was really inspirational. The story of millions of Indians in different fields though remain unsung/unheard,” a third user reacted.
Aditya Srivastava, an alumnus of IIT-Kanpur, was declared the all-India topper in UPSC Civil Services Mains Examinations 2023, on April 16. Srivastava and Animesh Pradhan scored AIR 1 and 2 respectively, followed by Donuru Ananya Reddy, who secured the third spot.
A total number of 1016 candidates have been recommended for appointment this year. The roll number of qualified candidates was released by the UPSC on their official website upsc.gov.in. The candidature of 355 recommended candidates has been kept provisional.
