An emotional Reddit post has struck a chord with social media users, as a 21-year-old man battling terminal cancer shared a poignant update about his final days. The post captures the heartbreak of someone coming to terms with the end of life while those around him are preparing for Diwali.

Cancer won, guys, see ya!!!” the young Redditor wrote. “Hey everyone, I am 21M. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer back in 2023. After more chemotherapy sessions and hospital stays than I can count, the doctors have told me there’s nothing left to try. I probably won’t make it to the end of this year.”

Reflecting on the world around him, he described the bittersweet experience of seeing the streets light up for Diwali. “The lights are already showing up in the streets,” he wrote. “By this time next year, I will exist just in a memory.”

The young man also shared the dreams he once held dear. “I wanted to travel more, start something of my own, maybe even adopt a dog once things got better. Then I remember I’m running out of time, and the thought just fades. I am home, and I can see the sadness in my parents’ face,” he added.

Concluding his post, he wrote, “I don’t really know why I’m posting this. Maybe just to say it all out loud, to leave a small trace before I fade quietly into whatever comes next.”

The post resonated with several users extending well wishes to the man. “This type of wishful thinking for a person we never met or will never meet is what makes us human,” a user wrote. “Damn man. Sometimes I wonder how lightly we take the pleasure of living. All the daily quarrels, fights, rat-race, degrees, jealousy, comparison mean nothing when one takes a broader look at life,” another user commented.

“And I hope some miracle can happen for you,” a third user said.
