A heartwarming video showing a son carrying his physically disabled mother on a flight is going viral online. The youngster had to carry his mother in his arms as the aircraft’s passageway was too narrow for a wheelchair.

Popular Instagram account Good News Correspondent posted the video two days ago and it has amassed 2.06 lakh views. “She carried him for 9 months and now he helps carry her when she needs help,” a text insert in the video says. The clip shows the boy carrying his mother to her seat in the economy class as a flight attendant guides them.

The woman in the video is Andrea Schwarz, a digital creator and accessibility and inclusion activist from Brazil. She had posted the video on her Instagram account a week ago and wrote, “I carried my son for 9 months and today he is carrying me. The preferred seats of the economy class are right at the beginning, still, it would be difficult if I get my wheelchair to my place, as the hallway is getting narrow. But my son, Gui, helped me get there this time. It’s like I usually say in my lectures: Anything is possible when you have love.”

While netizens were impressed by the boy’s love towards his mother, many people also called out the lack of accessibility in flights.

“Lack of accessibility isn’t heartwarming. What WOULD be heartwarming is voters reaching out to their representatives and telling them to pass the Air Carrier Access Amendments Act of 2023 so that airplanes will finally have to meet accessibility standards! That way this son no longer has to carry his mom onto the plane and she can simply board using her wheelchair like all other passengers do,” a user commented. A user applauded the beautiful mother-son bonding but asked the airports around the world to “do better”.

“Invest in special assistance staff and equipment! His mother shouldn’t need her son to get her to the seat, an aisle wheelchair should be available for all who need it!!!” said the user. “She’s lucky to have a good, loving son like you. God bless you both!” wrote a third. “How beautiful is this? You have a wonderful son you’re a good soul,” posted another netizen.
