Greg Foster once again broke the world record by consuming India’s Bhut Jolokiya, among the world’s hottest chillies, in merely 30 seconds. These chillies are mostly found in the northeastern parts of India, such as Manipur and Assam.
In the video shared by the @thetruth.india, he was seen gulping one chilli after the other. “Fastest time to eat 10 Bhut Jolokyia chillis in 30.01 seconds, Greg Foster,” the caption by Guinness World Records read. In another conversation, Gregory said, “This record attempt is a personal challenge to see how far I can push myself and my love of the super hot peppers.”

In December 2021, Greg set a new record for the fastest time to consume three Carolina reaper chillies in an astounding 8.72 seconds. Furthermore, in 2017, he set a new record by consuming 120 grams of Carolina Reaper chilli peppers in a single minute.
Guinness World Records added in their report, “Gregory has always loved spicy food and even grows his peppers at home. He has spent decades pushing his tolerance level for spicy foods, and he is now able to stomach the hottest peppers in the world.”
Heat in peppers is measured in Scoville Heat Units. Zero is bland, and a regular jalapeno pepper registers about 5,000 units. The Guinness Book of World Records lists the Carolina Reaper at 1.64 million units. It was overtaken by Pepper X last year which measures an average of 2.69 million units. Also known as the ghost pepper, Bhut Jolokiya measures around 1 million units.
The viral video received mixed reactions from netizens, while one user humorously said, “After first he must have gone numb … anesthesia”, another said, “You know why it is a world record, because a US man a foreigner is eating it.”
