Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhutan for a two-day state visit on Friday. Upon his arrival at the venue, a group of Bhutanese youngsters performed a garba song penned by PM Modi himself to welcome him.
Shared by ANI on X, the video shows the group of women—dressed in vibrant garba outfits—performing Gujarat’s traditional folk dance at a hotel in Thimphu.

PM Modi received a warm welcome after he landed at the Paro International Airport. He was accorded a red carpet welcome, which included a special welcome by Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Moreover, the 45-kilometer route from the airport to Thimpu was lined with people waving both Indian and Bhutanese flags.

After reaching Bhutan, PM Modi shared a series of photos, thanking the people of Bhutan for the “memorable” welcome. “I am grateful to the people of Bhutan, especially the young children, for the memorable welcome to their beautiful country,” he wrote.

Early in the day, Bhutan’s PM Tobgay took to X and shared a poster welcoming PM Modi. “Welcome to Bhutan, my elder brother. @narendramodi Ji,” he wrote in Hindi.

Before leaving for Bhutan, PM Modi took to X and wrote, “On the way to Bhutan, where I will be attending various programmes aimed at further cementing the India-Bhutan partnership. I look forward to talks with Majesty the King of Bhutan, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and Prime Minister.”

PM Modi was initially expected to visit the neighbouring nation on Thursday but postponed his visit due to inclement weather.
