Several travel vloggers push their limits to create content, venturing into cities and countries that remain largely unexplored due to political and socio-economic challenges. Recently, a video of two Turkish women travelling through Pakistan on motorcycles has sparked a debate on social media, raising safety concerns.

The viral footage, shared by X user @RsdioGenoa, shows the women stopping at a food stall, seemingly to explore the local street food. However, what caught the internet’s attention was the large crowd of men and boys surrounding them, watching with intense curiosity.

“Turkish women tourists in Pakistan. How will this holiday end?” the caption on the video read.

The video accumulated nearly seven million views, evoking a debate on women’s safety in Pakistan. While a section of users slammed the women for risking their safety, others highlighted the friendship between Turkey and Pakistan. “I don’t understand people, especially women, who go to these countries. Everyone knows what these countries are like, why do they still go even though they know this?” a user wrote.

“Why holiday in Pakistan? What do you expect?,” another user commented. “They have nothing to fear, as their president stated once that Turks and Pakistanis are brothers!” a third user chimed in.

In June last year, a tourist was lynched by a mob in northwest Pakistan after being accused of blasphemy. The Christian man was accused of burning pages of the Quran. According to the BBC, the tourist was torched, and at least 11 people were injured in the attack.
