Photos of Vladimir Putin with puppy, gifted by Turkmenistan president, have become a hit meme

According to reports, Putin named the cute fluffy as Verny which means “faithful" in Russian. Soon photos of the leader with the dog spread like wildfire on across social media platforms, with the small clip of the leader kissing and pampering the pup going viral.

As far as diplomacy goes, exchanging gifts between leaders of two countries is not new. For such gifts, personal taste and fondness of leaders are also taken into consideration. Keeping in mind that Russian President Vladimir Putin loves dogs, he was presented with a pup for his 56th birthday by Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Russian leader was presented with a shepherd dog, locally known as Alabai, during a meeting in Sochi, Russia. Along with the handmade carpets and the ancient Akhal Teke breed of racehorses, it is officially listed as part of Turkmenistan’s national heritage, Reuters reported.

According to reports, Putin named the cute fluffy as Verny which means “faithful” in Russian. Soon photos of the leader with the dog spread like wildfire on social media platforms, with the small clip of the leader kissing and pampering the pup going viral.

Tweeple couldn’t stop but express their emotions and one of the users also called it “oddly heartwarming”, while another remarked, “Vladimir Putin looks so gentle with the pup.” While many others slammed the way the Turkmenistan’s President held the dog.

But more than these reactions, it didn’t take much time for the viral pictures to turn into a meme. On Reddit, users have been engaged in a photoshop battle, and quite unsurprisingly it involves US President Donald Trump.
