Led by their star player Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s team has delivered stunning performances throughout the tournament. They not only defeated Bangladesh but also won against big names like New Zealand and Australia.
In the match against Bangladesh, Afghanistan chose to bat first. Bangladesh managed to restrict them to a mere 115 runs, but despite it, and a series of rain delays, Afghanistan bowlers, especially Rashid Khan and Naveen ul Haq, turned the game around. Rashid took four wickets for 23 runs, while Naveen took four for 26, including the crucial last two wickets, sealing the win for Afghanistan in a dramatic fashion.
Now, with spirits high and two major victories behind them, Afghanistan’s cricket team is ready for their next big match. They will face South Africa in the semi-finals on June 26 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad’ Tarouba (June 27 in India).
The second semi-final match will be between Indian and England on June 27 at Guyana’s Providence Stadium (8 pm IST on June 27).
