South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol shocked the country on Tuesday night by declaring “emergency martial law,” triggering a massive protest outside the parliament. Amid the ongoing political turmoil, Lee Jae-myung, the leader of South Korea’s opposition party, climbed the fence of the parliament to vote against the controversial law.
Jae-myung went live on YouTube and recorded himself climbing the walls in an attempt to enter the parliament. The now-viral video—with over 16 million views—shows the leader climbing the parliament’s boundary wall. He first climbs over a metal fence and jumps to the other side. He doesn’t stop looking at the camera while breaking in.
Sharing a clip of the live stream video, an X handle @XXIBGOD_ wrote, “Lee Jae-myung goes over the wall in live video.”

Several social media users flocked to the comment section to react to it. “I’m in tears at the sight of him running to the main conference hall as fast as he can, even if it means jumping over the wall at the age of 60,” a user wrote. “Lee Jae-myung TV Live is getting bolder and bolder. I’m looking forward to what he’ll overcome next!”
“this man is the leader of opposition in south korea…that’s what we could do to save democracy in our country Hats off to the people of south korea…they saved democracy,” a third user reacted.
Meanwhile, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has accepted the resignation of Defence Minister Kim Yong-hyun and nominated the ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Choi Byung-hyuk, as the new defence minister.
The martial law in South Korea had been called off after 190 MPs in parliament voted against it.
