OpenAI chief Sam Altman has recently said that Artificial Intelligence has completely reshaped what young professionals can achieve on their own. He was speaking at People by WTF podcast hosted by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath.

When Kamath asked Altman to picture the life of a 25-year-old in Mumbai or Bengaluru, the OpenAI CEO stated the youths of this age group was blessed with more opportunities than any generation as they are equipped with powerful tools like AI and was hence a once-in-history opportunity. “I think this is probably the most exciting time to be starting out one’s career, maybe ever,” he said.

Altman argued that tasks that once required years of expertise or entire teams, coding, marketing, legal review, customer service, can now be tackled with AI acting as a collaborator. “You could use GPT-5 to help you write the software for a product, handle customer support, draft marketing plans, even review legal documents,” he explained.

He praised India’s entrepreneurial drive and eagerness to embrace AI tools, noting that feedback from Indian users has already influenced OpenAI’s work. Comparing this moment to the personal-computer boom of his youth, Altman said the difference today is scale, “People are now limited only by the quality and creativity of their ideas.”
In the show, Altman speaks about wide-ranging topics ranging from Artificial Intelligence to the future of society, and even to personal reflections on marriage and parenthood.

Altman also reflected on how AI could reshape economics and society. He predicted a future where negative interest rates, universal basic income, and new forms of wealth distribution, like sovereign wealth funds or experimental currencies, become part of everyday life.

On a personal note, he described becoming a parent as “the coolest, most amazing, most emotionally overwhelming experience” of his life. Looking ahead, he expressed hope that as AI frees up time and resources, family and community will return to the center of people’s lives. “It’s a problem for society that those things have been in retreat,” he said.
