A lot of companies have automated replies when you contact customer support. When a person has to get through to a representative, it can get cumbersome to get through the automated replies before getting the desired response. A Reddit user shared a screenshot of a conversation that he had with a bank’s customer care. The Reddit user (@Whackatoe) wrote that this was the bank’s support bot and it was mandatory before being in contact with a real person. The conversation showed how the man said “hello” and got the same response in return. However, when he asked the query of finding an annual fee of $20 on his credit card when he had activated it only a couple of days ago, he kept getting the same response of “hello” again. See the post here. “Maybe try your question without “Hi”,” suggested a user. “That’s what I was thinking, too. It might only be able to reply “Hello.” when it detects a greeting. Might disregard everything after “Hi” as just part of a greeting. I would try just asking the question,” another user said. “You mean don’t say hello 3 times consecutively and then roast a bot for doing it back?” wrote a third. In May, a Reddit user had shared a screenshot of a conversation with GPT-4 showing the chatbot made a typographical error while answering a question. Answering a query on “pet shop recording concerns”, the chatbot spelled the word “infringing” incorrectly and wrote “infrishing any local laws” in the answer.
