Amid all the conundrum of a Democratic-led impeachment inquiry, US President Donald Trump announced the death of Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi during an overnight raid led by US military forces in Syria. Trump said al-Baghdadi died when he was caught at the end of a tunnel, “whimpering and crying and screaming all the way” as he was chased by American military dogs.
Later, he shared an image of the military dog on Twitter to laud its work. Trump’s tweet about declassifying a picture of the dog who assisted in the operation led to other people posting photos of their #DeclassifiedDogs!
We have declassified a picture of the wonderful dog (name not declassified) that did such a GREAT JOB in capturing and killing the Leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi! pic.twitter.com/PDMx9nZWvw

The photo, which shows a German Shepherd wearing a bulletproof vest, has gone viral and had people mimicking Trump’s tweet to share photos of their pets.

Declassifying my dog and his handler. He does not take on terrorists and in fact he got recently scared by a bird chirp while hiking, but he is still the goodest boy. #declassifieddog pic.twitter.com/gRaDGnYF63

US Army General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was tight-lipped about the identity of the dog when asked at a Pentagon news briefing on Monday.
“We’re not releasing the name of the dog right now. The dog is still in theater,” Milley said, using the term for military operations. “The dog, the canine, the military working dog, performed a tremendous service, as they all do, in a variety of situations.”
Milley expressed confidence the dog would bounce back from its injuries.
