Access to essentials like food, clean water, shelter, and medical care is severely limited, making life incredibly difficult. Yet, amid the devastation, Ibrahim Aklouk, a content creator from Gaza, is choosing to find hope in despair, documenting his life through the ruins of war.
Aklouk is capturing hearts on social media with a recent video where he documents his friend’s wedding amid Gaza’s devastation. In the now-viral clip, he is seen creating a makeshift steam iron due to the lack of electricity in the region. Using a traditional iron press, he heats it over a woodfire and carefully presses the shirt he plans to wear to the wedding. He then shared a glimpse of the war-ravaged landscape, piles of debris, shattered homes, and makeshift camps, as he makes his way to the wedding venue.
As the video unfolds, he reunites with friends, including one who arrives carrying a gift, and together they head towards the “celebration”.
Sharing the video on Instagram, Aklouk wrote, “All we dream of is a happy, safe life. We deserve every bit of goodness, because we have suffered deeply and carried so much pain through this endless w@r.”
