Gracie, a one-year-old pup, had a rough start—dumped at a vet clinic covered in maggots, missing hair, and with a birth defect that left her without front legs.

Local heroes at Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue in Kennesaw, Georgia in the US swooped in to rescue Gracie and the Turley family, which owns the shelter, decided to make the pup their own.

Then, thanks to the Lego wizardry of 12-year-old Dylan, who worked as a volunteer at the shelter, Gracie rolled into happiness.

Since Gracie was a pup with more growing to do, a flexible wheelchair was a must. Dylan crafted one with Legos, allowing Gracie to be velcroed in.

Tammy, Gracie’s mother, told The Dodo, “Initially, it took her a bit to catch on, but with a few pieces of hot dog as motivation, she soon mastered it and took off like a champ”.

The news shared by Upworthy on their website has captivated hearts all over the world.

After Gracie outgrew the initial wheelchair, Dylan crafted a second version to lift her. Recognising the need for larger wheels, he went on to create a third model.
