A man allegedly ran naked down the aisle of a Virgin Australia flight sometime after the takeoff, knocking over a flight attendant and causing the plane to return to Perth airport. He was arrested by the police at the airport, officials told CBS News on Tuesday. The incident happened on Monday night during, what was supposed to be, a 3-hour and 30-minute flight from Perth to Melbourne. The plane turned around about an hour into the flight, according to FlightAware, a flight-tracking site, said the CBS News report. Flight VA696 returned to Perth Airport because of a "disruptive passenger," the airline said in a statement. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that no one was injured during the incident. Australian Federal Police officers were waiting for the plane when it landed, and they removed the passenger. Police said, "Officers arrested a man after he allegedly ran naked through the aircraft mid-flight and knocked a crew member to the floor." The man was then taken to the hospital for assessment and remains there, according to the police. Reports say it is unclear how or where the passenger took off his clothes. Police expect to summon the man to appear in a Perth court on June 14, but the exact charges have not been decided yet. The airline apologised to the "guests impacted," emphasising that the safety of passengers and crew is its top priority. Both the airline and police declined to comment further.
