Just last week, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai was slammed on Twitter and Facebook after a photo that was believed to be hers went viral, wearing a pair of jeans and jacket. The unverified photo took the Internet by storm and while many didn’t believe it was her, others trolled her and even compared her to Mia Khalifa. Though a few people came forward to support the young leader and lambasted those who try to lecture women on ‘what to wear’, the 20-year-old remained quiet.
However, after nearly a week, Khalifa responded to the buzz. Sharing a photoshopped image of her face to a picture of Virgin Mary, she wrote, “When a news outlet mistakes Malala for Mia Khalifa.” The former adult movie star posted the image on her Instagram and Twitter account creating a huge uproar.

While we don’t know the real intentions behind Khalifa’s move, some jeered at her with tweets filled with profanity, while others were outright furious and didn’t find it funny in any way. “Not gonna lie I’m not easily offended but this struck a nerve even if it was a joke I didn’t find it funny,” wrote one user on Twitter. “Damn I like listening to Mia rant about sports and cook some food but shit, you took this too far. Smh,” commented another, while there were several users who pushed her to delete the tweet.

On Instagram, along with insults and abuses, followers of Christianity were deeply hurt. Irked by how she could compare herself with Mother Mary, people slammed her for being insensitive.
