LG India’s Managing Director, Hong Ju Jeon, is winning hearts with his thoughtful gesture during the company’s debut on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday. While celebrating LG India’s rising shares following its blockbuster initial public offering (IPO), Jeon delivered his speech in Hindi.

Jeon, who hails from South Korea, began his address with a warm Hindi greeting, “Namaste”, and went on to express gratitude to LG’s partners and Indian stakeholders for their trust in the company’s vision.

“Namaste, mananiye atheeti, vishesh roop se NSE CEO, Shree Ashish Chauhan ji. Iss atihasik avsar par, LG Electronics ke saath shaamil hone ke liye, aap sabhi ka dhanyavaad,” said Hong Ju, thanking the guests and NSE CEO Ashish Chauhan for their support.

“Aant me mai Bharat sarkar, SEBI, NSE aur humare partners ko bhi tahe dil se dhanyavad karta hu,” he added, concluding his speech with heartfelt thanks to the Indian government, SEBI, NSE, and LG’s partners.

Soon after the video caught attention, industrialist Harsh Goenka lauded Jeon’s efforts. In a post on X, “LG Electronics lists 50% above issue price, but the real premium was the emotion in that “Namaste” and his address to investors in Hindi. Well done LG India MD, Hong Ju Jeon!”

The video prompted a flurry of reactions, with a user saying, “The IPO success was impressive, but this gesture of learning and respecting the language of the country you work in speaks volumes about character and commitment.” Another user commented, “Shows the quality of the company and the good thing is the company left something for retail investors in the IPO pricing.”

Appointed as Managing Director of LG Electronics India in January 2023, Jeon has overseen one of the most successful IPOs in recent years. The company made history by becoming the first in India to surpass Rs 4 lakh crore in total subscription value.
