An Indian expatriate in the UAE has struck gold—quite literally—by winning AED 1 million (Rs 2.4 crore, approximately) in The UAE Lottery’s Lucky Day Draw.

The winner, Jagan Babu Varghese, has been living and working in the UAE for over 14 years. Calling his win “a miracle,” he says his biggest priorities now are securing his children’s education and supporting his parents in India. Jagan came across The UAE Lottery on social media and decided to give it a try.

Sharing what pushed him toward playing, he explained, “I wanted to travel the world, secure my children’s future, and live a happy life.”

The numbers he chose weren’t all planned. Most were picked at random, but one was deeply personal. Jagan said, “I called my wife to confirm my mother’s birthday. She said 17, so I changed one number to 17. The month was 7. Those numbers turned out to be lucky for me.”

With his newfound fortune, Jagan already has a clear plan. “My first priority is my children’s education and future. I want to buy a gift for my wife, probably some gold, and something for my kids. I’ll save part of the money so we can live comfortably later in life. And I want to support my elderly parents back in India,” he shared.

And the dream doesn’t end here. Despite the big win, he’s aiming even higher. “I’ll keep playing until I hopefully win the AED 100 million one day,” he said with a smile.

For countless Indians working abroad, Jagan’s journey is a reminder that hope, patience, and a little bit of luck can change everything.
