As April wrapped up, Ivanka Trump offered a glimpse into some candid family moments from last month that quickly stirred reactions online.

In the image Ivanka shared, Theo, 8, is seen peeking from a small door at the front of the Resolute Desk–right beneath where the US President Donald Trump, 78, is seated. Wearing his familiar “Make America Great Again” cap, Trump smiles at his grandson, creating a scene that felt familiar.

The photo was clearly inspired by the famous image of President John F Kennedy and his son, John Jr., captured by Look magazine’s Alan Stanley Tretick. That original moment, with little John Jr. playing under the same desk during his father’s presidency, has long been considered one of the most iconic White House images in American history.

Reactions on social media came fast and divided. While some praised the moment as touching and nostalgic, others were quick to call it staged. An individual wrote, “Sir, I served with Jack Kennedy. I knew Jack Kennedy. Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Mr Trump, you’re no Jack Kennedy.”

Another user wrote, “You can’t be serious! Such a cheap attempt to be a Kennedy.” A third person commented, “You staged a photo to try to look like the spontaneous one taken during the Kennedy admin.”

However, not everyone was cynical. “Such a heartwarming moment!” one person wrote. “Seeing little one popping out from under the iconic Resolute Desk while President Trump works is the perfect blend of family and history. A proud granddad and a curious kid–what a special memory in the Oval Office!”

Ivanka also shared a quieter, more intimate clip from the White House a few days back – a video of Theo performing his first original piano composition. He sat at a historic Steinway grand piano as Donald Trump looked on proudly, adding another sentimental moment to their White House visit.
